Dear Madam/Sir,

Indian RoboCupJunior Foundation" an NGO is proud to announce the fourth year "RoboCupJunior" Competitions in India.

About “RoboCupJunior”: (Please visit: http://rcj.robocup.org/ for details)

RoboCupJunior (RCJ) is one of the best International competitions. It is a division of Robocup organization (http://www.robocup.org/). It focuses on education and aims to introduce the larger goals of the RoboCup project (creating robots) to primary and secondary school children (technically up to age 19). RCJ organizes 3 types of competitions namely: Rescue, On stage (Formerly Dance) and Soccer. The first international RoboCupJunior competition was held in Melbourne, Australia in 2000. Since then, it has been held in different countries every year. In 2014, it was held in Brazil, 2015 in China and in 2016 it was held in Germany. Indian RoboCupJunior Foundation has sent teams to Brazil, China and to Germany.

The Indian competitions will be held at Regional, Zonal and at National level. The regional competitions will be held in various cities and later the Zonal competitions will be held at 4 zones, namely, South, North, East and West. The South Zone competitions will be held on 19th November 2016 at Little Flower High School, Abids, (Near Chermas) Hyderabad.

Details of the South Zone competition are as follows:

Age Limit: Up to 19 years. Students are expected to be able to write programs for their robots on their own, without significant help from adult mentors. Team members up to 14 are considered primary Team. Teams with any member above age 14 will be considered as secondary team. Each team should have minimum 2 members and maximum 4 for Rescue and On stage (Dance) Competitions. You may send maximum of 3 teams from your school.

The Registration Fee is Rs.2000/- for a team of Maximum 4 students.

The teams selected from each zone will compete at National competition which will be held in the month of January 2017. Details will be announced later.

RESCUE Competition

The competition mission is to locate natural disaster victims from a building, where the rescue personnel in place need robotic assistance in dangerous areas.

The Robot has to be fully autonomous and carry out the mission with no help. This means that it must handle rough terrain (speed bumps) without getting stuck and claim ramps. When the robot finally finds the victim then it has to carefully transport it to a safe area where humans can take over.

On stage (Dance) competition

A Dance performance means that one or more robots and humans come together to create a performance. RoboCupJunior Dance allows team to present creative stage performance using autonomous robots that the team have designed, built and programmed. The Dance challenge is intended to be open-ended. This includes a whole range of possible performances, for example dance, storytelling, theatre or an art installation. The performances may include music but this is optional. Teams are encouraged to be as creative, innovative and as entertaining as possible.
